Accelerator pedal

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone could help. I have a two year old Octavia, my third Octavia over the years.

This one i have an issue with the accelerator pedal. It currently operates ok most of the time, yet every so often it catches on release and then hits the bottom of my foot.

Its not a massive issue at the moment, but worried it does it further down the accelerator.

Has anyone experienced anything similar ?

Many thanks

Sorry if this sounds obvious, but have you checked it's not catching on your car mat?

Hi,

That is exactly how it feels, but i have taken the mat out.

I would get that inspected ASAP. If it’s sticking down at any point the risk of it sticking down more over time could be extremely dangerous.

Check to see if there are any stones/obstructions in and around it, on my last car a Yeti, the accelerator pedal had to be replaced within a short time as a small stone had worked its way into an empty space in the pedal. The pedal basically broke and the car literally limped home. These cars are I think drive by wire rather than a direct connection to the throttle but it certainly shouldn't behave like that, definitely needs checked out by a garage.

Hi all,

Skoda had it for a week and found no issues, however had it back and it still does it.

The peddle seems to have a lot of side ways movements.

Wonder if it is related to how the pedal is depressed. Try pressing as straight as possible to see if it sticks then apply sideways pressure as you depress to see if it sticks. Doesn’t sound right to have sideways movement. Mine has none and it’s 3 years old.

There shouldn't be any sideways movement at all on an accelerator pedal but the broken one in the Yeti I mentioned above was doing just that. It was easily moved physically from left to right. If yours is anything like that it needs changed urgently.
