Replacing Steering Wheel

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hope you're well.

I'm looking for a replacement steering wheel for my HTP Classic.

Same steering wheel as standard mk1 I believe.

I'm currently looking for a wheel that has volume control on the wheel itself (so dials buttons etc), however, need some clarification on sizes etc.

I was looking at this skoda wheel from the Mk3, however, not too sure if it will fit.

Any suggestions on steering wheels would be grand :)

And any boss kit links would also be great :)

Many thanks,

How are you planning to deal with the airbag problem, it's a LOT of trouble just so you can muck about with the radio without taking one hand off the wheel!

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply :)

I'll mess around with some adaptors // look at some guides on how to wire it up.

If push comes to shove then I'll just leave the airbag out (obvs prefer them to be working n functional but hey ho)

Literally any steering wheel with volume controls on the side would be grand. I'm not after like a proper racer after-market steering wheel, just one that looks a bit more modern than the standard mk1 wheel, and obvs has steering wheel controls :)

Many thanks,

Lol so your basically willing to put your life at risk if you have an accident if you cannot sort out the airbag issue just so you can be hands on wheel to turn the radio up wow

The electrical systems are very different so a MK3 Fabia MFSW buttons won't work on a MK1 Fabia.

If you really want a MFSW, I'd suggest you find one from a car with the same platform as the MK1 Fabia.

As someone already said that multi function wheel wont work. The airbag issue might be solved by changing the connector but i'd be iffy on trusting myself wiring an airbag. From experience, those ******s are basically a small bomb going into your face, very loud and if that goes off in the middle of your daily commute you might well wreck from the shock of it.

Maybe a mk4 golf wheel with the controls would work. The mk1 vRS steering wheel seems to be the exact same as a mk4 golf gti wheel. The airbag should connect up to the fabia too if my cars anything to go off of.
