QI charger error and not charging

Featured Replies

Hi, the wireless charging pad in my superb has stopped working a few weeks ago. It was giving intermittent issues for a while but now it has completely stopped working. Any time a phone is placed on the charger it gives the "failed to charge and please remove all loose items from the charger...." (or whatever the exact wording is). The pad is completely free of anything and I've removed the rubber cover and made sure its all clean. I also got it checked when I had the car in for a service (non main dealer but a very well respected VAG specialist) and they could find no fault codes and said its the first failed charging pad they have seen so were not 100% sure how to solve. Their suggestion was that just replacing the pad might be the best option as they aren't too expensive and would be cheaper than spending hours trying to diagnose. Just to confirm I've tried with multiple different phones both iPhones and android.

Anyone come across a similar issue and find a solution? I have no problem replacing the pad once it fixes it but it would be annoying if replacing it didn't solve it after paying for the part.

Hi, I have a February 2018 Karoq Edition with QI charging that has worked faultlessly until this last Monday.   Now attempting to charge my iPhone gives the same symptoms as you report here in your message.

I have no idea why it should suddenly become troublesome - but guess about 3 and a half years is long enough for faults to now start occurring.

Needless to say, I’m not happy as this function is so handy.   May just get a USB charging plate and shove it on top - it’ll save pulling the car about as I’m not sure how the QI Plate is fixed into the console/phone box.

Given that QI Charge plates are essentially a Coil with some electronics - surely these should last considerably longer?

Could you update me please if you manage to get the problem solved with what you had to do?

All best wishes

Mark.

First thing id do is test a different phone to see if its the phone issue.

If not, being a brand new car - straight back to the dealer under warranty.
