Mk4 vRS iV question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am a current mk3 owner and I have the opportunity to go for a company car and after looking through the list there are a range of options anywhere from small low powered hybrids/ petrols and diesels all the way to Audi E Trons etc. I appreciate these will have a different effect on how much I pay based on value emissions etc.

But also on the list is the Octavia vRS iV (and Golf GTE)... so as a fan of Skoda and as its one of the cheaper cars on the list, I assume resulting in cheaper tax (especially with it being hybrid) it seems a great choice.

However... on videos I have watched of the GTE it appears the power (245ps) is not constant and that when in sport mode etc. If you floor it, the power eventually backs off, like it only gives you 245ps (and equivalent torque) for a short period some sort of temporary boost, whereas my current 245 petrol and any other car gives consistent boost at rated power.

Can someone help and clarify as I am not sure I can live with a car where full power is temporary and not constant?

Many thanks

Matt
