KESSY: Unresponsive passenger door handle

Featured Replies

If my car has been sitting for a few days, gripping the passenger door handle doesn't trigger the unlocking as it should, while the driver's door handle, the Start button and boot lock work as expected.

Unlocking the doors from the driver's side and even opening and closing the boot (which doesn't unlock the doors), brings the passenger door handle back to life for as long as the car is used frequently enough.

A fresh key fob battery doesn't help, neither does wiping the offending handle with alcohol nor using the spare key fob. And the car battery state of charge is solid as well.

Anyone with similar experience?

Isn’t that a battery saving feature, after few days shuts down the extra scanners

Could be, as it works flawlessly once awaken.

If so, more users must have noticed the feature (the times are right ) and will perhaps chime in.

The same happens also to me, but I didn't give it too much importance. It seems to be a problem. If it's not, I can't image why it behaves so.

If that really is a battery saving feature, I can easily live with it.

What I'm worried about is that it may be the beginning of a problem that will fully manifest itself after the warranty expires.

I find that even the driver’s side door handle behaves like that if the car has been standing in the garage for a few weeks. I assumed that this was a battery-saving measure.

When that happens, can you unlock by the key fob button or must you turn the old-fashioned key in the lock?

Checked again today: two days of rest are enough to put the passenger door handle to sleep.

Thanks to everyone who replied - I feel reassured.

Yes, it works with the key fob
