But VRS doesn’t compete with Volkswagens R.  The Octavia VRS is a GTI competitor. Why would that then deviate just for the Kodiaq?

This - in my view - is how the brands line up.

Because the new Kodiaq RS shares an engine with a Tarraco: Tarraco 2.0 TSI 245PS DSG 4Drive starts production | SEAT

That does make sense in naming convention. Its just the Superb AWD Sportline is the anomaly with better engine than a VRS. Only chance of the R motor would be a VRS Superb, with Kodiaq missing out.

To me ŠKODA RS has always been “under VW R”
