bolts or rivits.door seals

Featured Replies

im going to have ago at fixing my leaking rear door. but is there any way of knowing if the metal door plate seal thingy is riveted on or bolted on before i go to the trouble of taking the door cards off.as i dont have a rivet gun & would need to get one if its not bolted. its a 04 fabia vrs.any ideas plz......(please let it be bolts)

On an 04 I would think its riveted.

Its worth just popping a door trim off to check though, no need to take it all the way off though, just lift it up.

You will need a rivet gun that is larger than most DIY ones. The shank on the Skoda rivets are huge.

Where are you in the country bugman, sure there are plenty of us out there with a rivet gun. Also the small hand operated ones are fairly cheap too.

i not doing job for a couple of weeks so i have time to sort out what i need. but i may be looking for some one in the telford area with a big rivet gun .plz

I have enough Skoda rivets to do both doors if anyone wants them. Could well be quicker than your dealer ordering them. :)

Lummox,

Does that type of rivet gun have any advantage over the usual two handle one such as it's easier to get into the door etc?

And regarding the original question, bit far for me mate, but as per ross' link you can pick one up nice and cheap.

my march04 is rivetted
