Octavia ABS Control Module Issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys thanks for having me here; I've recently acquired a PD100 Octavia Estate MK2 which has a dead abs module (1K0 907 379P) and was wondering if I can replace it with a unit ending in "K". If so would it need coding in?

Hoping I've put this in the right place.

Probably and yes.

Thanks MicMac, are there any guides that I can use to program the new one in I currently have VCDs Lite and a KKL Cable.

Probably, search and you shall find.

I have done already I found no ultimate answer

There are many on the tube.

None are relevant I did not just come here through laziness.

None of the other threads have an answer for how to get the code for the replacement ABS module if the original is dead and not communicating.

The relevant erWin document that covers brake systems for your model probably has a table of codings.

You may or may not be able to find a free source of this info at e.g. workshop-manuals.com, or a ripped-off copy via google.

Here's an example relating to mk1 Fabia just to show you the sort of thing I mean.

Skoda Workshop Manuals > Fabia Mk1 > Chassis > ABS, ADR, TCS, EDL, ESP > Code control unit - ABS BOSCH 8.0 > Table of codes (workshop-manuals.com)

erWin documents can be downloaded for a small fee (7 Euros plus tax for shortest session).

1K0 907 379 P looks to be a MK70 series ABS pump so it's coding is pretty simple. If you can't retrieve it's coding, you can reuse the coding from another similar vehicle as there is nothing VIN specific included. VCDS probably has a helper too :)

1K0 907 379 K looks to be a MK60 series ABS pump so it's not a direct swap. You'll need to change the mounting bracket, connector, parts of the wiring and come up with a suitable coding to get it working...

Thanks guys, appreciate your time and advice.

Replaced the module and still no communication; Started testing voltages at the J104 Connector and while doing so noticed the battery box had rubbed through the wiring harness near the fusebox (severing some of the wires.). So that's my job for tomorrow and will hopefully have this Skoda back on the road.

That'll be it.

Repaired the wires, now getting 12v on both the pins with large red wires (one red, one red with green stripe) and getting the negative at the other side.

Between the CanL and CanH (orange wires with a stripe down them) I'm getting 60 ohms.

Despite all this I'm still getting p1649 and cannot connect to the abs controller.

There might be another power feed, possibly an ignition-on one? Can look up in a bit when I get back forma  brief trip out.

I'll have a look, I noticed you told someone else there was a grey/black wire on pin 20 which was fed from fuse 2 in cabin so I'll check there.

What year is the car, and what type of ABS is it?

It's a 2005 Skoda Octavia Elegance, I think it's a MK70 ( code ends in 379p on controller)

The ignition-on feed is black/grey (from cabin fuse 2) and goes to pin 20 or pin 4 depending on how many frills your system has. Pin 20 on the basic set-up.

Fuse 2 in cabin tested fine (I also tested every other in cabin and in engine bay(). I then tested the grey/black wire and it had 12 volts on it.

so it seems everything is present?

1 Thick Red with 12v

1 Thick Red/Green with 12v

1 Thick Brown with Ground

2 Striped Orange ~60 ohms between

1 Black/Grey with 12v which loses power with ignition off

I'm sure that is all it needs, I got this unit off ABS Repair centre and no longer have old unit(it did not appreciate disassembly, a clear mistake in hindsight).
