Sony PS3: November 11th 2006

Featured Replies

From BBC News:

The new PlayStation 3 (PS3) will hit Japanese stores on 11 November, with the US and Europe following less than a week later, Sony has announced.

The console will be available in two versions starting at $499 (394 euros).

The big question is, is it worth putting your name down on one in the hope there is a supply shortage in time for Christmas - then selling it on EBay ala X-Box 360 ??

Nah, save the money and buy some PC games!

Not really my thing, I sit at a PC all day so the last thing I want in my lounge is a PC.

With the way consoles are becoming now, its hard to avoid sitting in front of a pc now :)

To buy one for yourself?

Nope

To buy one for resale at a profit.

I reckon it could be worth it

Oh yes! (IMHO)

I happened to be in Tesco when they released the 360 by pure coincidence (Tesco do not allow pre-orders) and they had a cardboard stand with 8 of em in it, I bought them all on me credit card and sold 3 of them at £100 profit in the car park straight away, 2 of them to collueges at no profit (for there kids) and the rest on E-bay at a massive profit, lets just say I had a free holiday in Mexico of the back of them, so guess where i'll be when the PS3 is released!!

My only concern is that everyone else will have the same idea and flood ebay etc. resulting in zero profit and lots of hassle.

Or the release more than enough PS3's to go around resulting in no shortages...

Think its had it... just read this:

Looking at the official press site of SCEA, we noticed that the PS3 with the 20 gigabyte hard drive seemed to lack HDMI support. This seems to be confirmed by an offical press release from SCEA, which indicates via comparison between the two systems. However, it also indicates that the 20 gigabyte system won't have Memory Stick, SD or Compact Flash reading capability or WiFi support. Even worse, it appears that rumble doesn't appear to be included with the new six axis sensing controller.

Could the 20 gig become a gamer shunned system? When Microsoft launched the XBOX 360, consumers hated the Core system that didn't come with a hard drive and other features, quickly dubbing it the "tard pack." Will the 20 gig suffer the same fate? We'll have more details as we get them from the show.

PMSL @ tard pack tho
