No more battery ...

Featured Replies

Hello,

Purchased in late 2020 delivered in March 2021

I do not understand what caused that, but I found the car with battery voltage at 4V !

I have to put a power supply to recharge the battery.. now 4 hours at 10A ... I expect this might last several hours.

The only thing I can remember is to have forgotten to lock car with the key (remote control I'm living in countryside, no bad people here :-)

I did an attempt to start the car (not the engine yet) and got a lot of errors messages in the front screen.

I hope that just for this it does not require to go to the garage to restore/enable car electronic features

The best outcome that you can optimistically hope for is that the battery will restart the car after fully charging but it will be irreperably damaged and toast for anything other than local use while you organise a new battery, if you think it has recovered more than that then take it to a battery specialist for a proper test or even invest in an electronic tester.

I dont think you will be relying on this battery next winter and be aware that many of them these days fail at the height of summer.

The health of the battery with this deep discharge is jeopardized , for sure... But what is the cause of this ? Something has drawn current during the last day I did not use the car, but no idea what.

If the car is not locked, can it cause that ?

when i got mine ,it was like 11v . services need to charge the battery whole day. the car  was on parking lot for a days. afer few days at home the new battery discharged again on 11,6v . i have profi battery charger and i did put on the recovery mod , and now its super. suggestions is go to check your battery to professional. i like those battery because it has cup on the top so you can check every cell . agm battery doesnt have that. but strange because cars with start stop system should have AGM battery for hard working like start stop deff. is

I've had once a situation where radiator fan has been on by itself when car is in the parking lot, powered off. When I entered the car and switched the power on, I started getting errors from all assisting systems (travel, side, etc). Car did refused to start and radiator fan did not stop. I switched the power off and fan stopped then.

I would guess that if the fan blows on full power, it will run the battery empty quite fast.

And yes, if the 12 V battery runs empty, it will ruin the battery permanently.

I have again a flat battery one morning and I decided to call the assistance. My car was towed away to the garage. Then the next day I've learned that a software bug was inducing this issue. The lane assist (or the steering wheel system) was not shut down when I exit the car... so this was drawing current to the battery for nothing.

This a 1600 km car, brand new, this is incredible that such a software bug was not updated earlier. I was not very happy, this is really silly.

Is the software issue solved now?

I had this same problem with Octavia iV today. Yesterday the car worked just fine and I drove about 30 km using eMode only. I also charged the drive battery in the evening and unpluggeg the charging cable around 11pm when the battery was full. Today the car was completely dead and I had open driver's door using the mechanical key. 12V battery showed 4 volts. I was able to turn the car on when the tow truck driver hooked a full battery to + and - terminals. Car was towed to the dealership, let's see what they have say about the problem.

I've also had once a situation where radiator fan was spinning at full speed when the car parked and off. I was charging the drive battery when this happened and only way to make the fan stop was to unplug the charging cable. Outside temperature was around 20 C and the car had been parked for couple of hours after driving before I plugged in the charging cable. This has happened only once about 2 weeks ago. A guy at my local dearship said that this might be a same kind of software bug and told me to contact them again if it happens again.

I'm sure I won't be the only one to have suffered from this....

I would say that so far so good from my side.

Hi Heimop - did you get a solution for this problem as my car has exactly the same issues?
