Roofbars

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of getting roofbars for my Superb Estate, which is metallic grey with silver rails.

I don't need huge width as will only be putting a roofbox on (not bikes etc too) or using them for trips back from Selco.  I'll probably leave them on the whole time, so thinking of the really quiet Yakima ones.

Do you agree the flush ones are better than through bars, and are there any better websites than this one (roofbox.co.uk)?

Thanks,

Mark

Read somewhere if you have a panoramic roof, some bars will foul the roof when open. Not sure this would apply to you?

I’ve got the Thule WingBar Edge, I much prefer the flush end look to the sticking-out variety. They’re dead quick to fix (especially when using an electric driver on the long Allen key too), and are low profile so I keep them under the (false) boot floor until I need them. There didn’t seem to be much price difference at the time I bought them between them and other similar quality bars.

I have the Thule wingbar that sticks through, used them on my Superb and on my current Octavia, excellent bit of kit.

I had the Yakima low profile ones on my Octavia and never noticed they were there. Passat now has the Thule wing type with stick out bits. Got them to be able to tie off on the ends. Aim was to take them off but they have been fitted since getting them in January. Should probably take them off.

Will the ones on your Passat also fit the Superb then? Is that what you were thinking of doing?

@Ivan8192 no, planning on keeping the Passat long term. Still on here as a hang up from my Octavia. Was looking for a superb but ended up with a Passat GTE. I think the rails are different between them. Passat has flush fit while the superb has raised.

No, no sunroof (the pic is from the website that sells these ones)

Have you got a pic that you wouldn't mind posting on here Ivan?
