skoda fabia 2003 sedan 1.4 mpi

Featured Replies

i have skoda fabia sedan 2003 1.4 mpi actually it's just fine and no issues so far ,the car done 215000 km with service on time.

am asking if i should change motor to 1.4 16v as so many people adviced me to

sounds like an expensive job. an engine swap does worth it's cost if you would go for an 1.8T. Personally, I do like more the power delivery of 1.4 8v compared to 1.4 16v. I had them both. My 1.4 8v one required a complete rebuilt at 250.000km because it started knocking and I got metal shred on the oil dipstick. I just had to trash it. I am still missing it and I hate the 1.4 16v. It's just not right. At least not for me.

Sorry to hear about your engine, Alex

I miss that car every day.

you made it cristal clear elaxandru about 1.4 mpi that last for long ,in the mean time i guess I don't have to replace it with 1.4 16v

and u r right about the power that 1.4 mpi gives it's really unique among all cars on the road

Doing an engine swap like 1.4 8v to 16v requires an expensive engine, and a fair degree of auto mechanics expertise; in fact I think you'd really want what we call a "car cassette", which you make by cutting the engine donor through the windscreen pillars and the floor, to make sure you have the engine, and all its electronics and wiring. It would be faster and cheaper for you to swap your car for a 16v engine one, with a cash adjustment either way to reflect both car's values.
