New O2 sensors but still getting codes 17524(P1116) & 17511(P1103)

Featured Replies

The chap we bought the car from (Mk1 vRS) said he'd replaced both O2 sensors because of error codes.

We're still getting the codes in the description.

We found the exhaust was blowing at the join with the cat so, thinking that might be contributory, we had a new exhaust fitted today.

Reset the codes and, about 5 miles later, they're back.

17524 Oxygen Sensor Heating B1 S1 (P1116 - 35-00 - Open Circuit) &

17511 Oxygen Sensor Heating B1 S1 (P1103 - 35-00 - Performance Too Low)

Do these codes both reference 1 sensor, or both?

Done a little searching, as you do, and it seems there's 3 possibilities
1. Fuse (43?)

2. Wiring between ECM and sensor (how to test?)

3. O2 sensor (best brand to get? (I'd normally buy genuine or Bosch but have only ever bought them for Vauxhall cars))

Thanks Skodafolks

Just the sensor nearest the engine, the other one would be B1S2.

Both sensors' heaters are usually powered from the same fuse so unlikely to be that.

Please confirm engine code if you want me to look up wiring info to/from sensor.

Thanks ...

It's an AUQ engine

I got all these codes the other month, engine management light was on and the car was running rough.

The previous owner had fitted a new front sensor about 6 months earlier (NGK) so I was reluctant to think it was at fault.

Hours and hours of tracing the wiring back to the ECU, replacing engine earths, resistance tests on the plug / pins etc I finally chucked the towel in and ordered a brand new Bosch sensor from ecp. Cured the fault and the car now runs miles better.

Anyone confirm the Bosch part number for the front O2 sensor on the vRS please (reg is YV03 VUD, if it helps)?

The direct fit one comes up with LP20431 on a few sites but others say it's not right..

Seems it's the more expensive of the 2 so I'd hazard a guess the previous owner may have fitted the cheapest option.

Part number on my euro car parts receipt is  710443307 but that might be their part number. It was £91.64 inc vat.

My car is a 2002 VRS

Skoda part number looks to be  1k0998262d;  see amongst all the item 12s here switch; clutch pedal - Octavia(OCT) [EUROPA 2003 year] (7zap.com)

If any equivalents you look at only have four wires, they're not right.

Looks right to me. Do look for wiring breakages first or you'll kick yourself if you find one whilst changing the sensor...
