Weird email from garage

Featured Replies

Has anyone else received an email like this from their garage?

Dear Mr. xxxxx,

We hope this communication finds you safe and well.

Please contact us regarding your vehicle WJ70GJF.

We’ve recently sent you a letter regarding your entitlement, as a ŠKODA customer, to a renewal allowance from ŠKODA relating to your current SKODA OCTAVIA HATCHBACK SPECIAL EDITION. However, we need to speak to you personally in order to confirm your eligibility and the finer detail.

Please could you contact Kieran Douglas from our ŠKODA team on 01935 513161 or [email protected] and we will be able to discuss this information with you.

We would also like to take this opportunity to advise that we continue to adhere to the guidance of the Government and public health officials now that our showrooms are open once more, and our team is on hand to guide you through all your requirements and needs. We can also still offer virtual appointments and click and collect should you still want to use these options.

I didn't receive the letter they're referring to and another weird part (for me) is that I rejected the car and handed it back to the garage around a month ago. I'm just curious as to what it's about?

Standard level of attention to detail from my local garage TBH.

I certainly haven't received it.   Yet!

They are going to offer you to trade in your car (their computer or salesperson doesn’t realise you’ve already rejected it.....) for a brand new one.

The car sales system as it is today doesn’t work without constant churning.

Well, only 4 months too late or I might still be in a Skoda I guess. When it all started in earnest, I suggested just swapping it for a car in their stock with similar mileage. They didn't show any interest and just dragged on for another 3 months so now I've got a Tiguan. Shame really (although I've got no complaints about the Tig)

New car sales do not need churning, just need certain volume.  Strictly you don’t need to sell to same person again, doing so is just easier than attracting new customers (especially if you have relocated from a prominent site to obscure location in a business park, forgetting that will lose the drive by potential customers)

Used cars are different, but only in sense that if a car is too old then unlikely to resell it (will palm it off to lower end of trade instead).  But doesn’t really make any difference if you are turning a 1 year old car or a 2 year old car, just need a suitable volume of trade-ins, otherwise have to buy stock in.
