Check engine light and low fuel?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Took my car (2.0 TDI Scout, 2011, 104,000 miles) for a long run at the weekend, mainly motorway. Got a bit low on fuel, computer said range 40 miles or so by the time I got home, so I filled up today on the nursery run. (Short journey, about 25 miles range by the time I got there). About halfway into the drive (stop start, engine off and on) the check engine light came on. engine ran fine, no problems, so I kept going thinking it might be due to low fuel. Fuelled up, but engine light still on and after a couple of miles of driving. I read the fault codes when I got home and got P2453, P25454, relating to DPF differential pressure sensor. I cleared the codes, but the engine light still seems to be on - I haven't driven it again yet though.

I was wondering, is it possible for low fuel (possibly even a bit of crap at the bottom of my fuel tank) to cause this fault code? Or do I have a DPF pressure sensor or DPF fault too? Seems a bit strange it should pop on after a long motorway run, when usually my driving is a mix of town, A road, motorway... Normally I use proper garage diesel, but today had to put a bit in from Tesco - but the light came on before I got to Tesco petrol station!

Thanks for any thoughts.

Ha! Hadn't seen that on here!

I've checked, and it's still there, and unmelted...
