AM missing on Bolero?

Featured Replies

I have a few months old Octavia 1.5 TSI with Bolero "radio".

I noticed it only offers FM and DAB, but no AM.

According to the manual it supports AM.

So where is it? In the settings menu I can choose between:

 - FM only

 - FM+DAB

In the main screen I can not change the band. The drop down menu only has one item, either "FM" ot "FM/DAB" (depending on what I select in settings).

I also see no web radio or podcasts. I don't have a data package, but even if I connect the car to a WLAN (hotspot on my phone), they do not appear. Why conditions are missing?

Regards,

David

bump... anyone? No one uses AM any more?

AM has been gradually disappearing from OEM radios for several years, I'm pretty certain it wasn't on the Octavia 3 I had until recently and it's not on my current Toyota.

I understand, but the manual claims there is AM.

Remember the manual covers all variants and options often in more than one country, so just because something appears in the manual doesn't mean your car will have it.

You have to check the spec advertised by the local importer...

Can I ask what do you need AM for? I'm sure you can find any radio station on the planet online at this point, much better quality too. Just use android auto/carplay.

Just sorting out the question.

Also, Bolero (at least mine) does not seem to play internet radios. Maybe it as payable option? Or you mean playing by ta mobile phone?

This is going to sound daft but I have a vague recollection that in one of the radio settings you need to tick a box to enable AM reception...???

I went thru all(?) settings and noticed no mention of AM at all.

AM may need to be activated via OBD11 or VCDS.

I know that's an option on my Mk3.
