Replacement Centre Caps

Featured Replies

Has anyone replaced their center caps on their wheels?

I've not long had my L&K, and in the interest of keeping it looking tidy, I'm looking to replace the centre caps, as the chrome has started to come away on the edge of the caps.

A quick google presents me with links to eBay listings, but I'm conscious the mantra "buy cheap, buy twice" at £8.49 on the link below, I have my suspicions on how long they'll stay looking fresh.

Question for the community is, can anyone recommend anywhere to source x4 replacement caps, as well as part numbers?

If you run the same wheels during the winter months it’s not really going to matter. Genuine centres take a kicking with the salt as well. All my winter rims have similar to your eBay link fitted, and at the price, I just replace every year when I change the wheels over.

Thanks @UndertheRadar Its a fair point, chrome & salt don't really mix!

I've only got the one set of wheels, but hope to maintain my cleaning regime through the winter months, so I'll take a punt and grab a set. I'm assuming as my car is an ex-fleet car, it still has the original centres on. Its covered just over 4k and 3.5 years old so they've not faired too badly.

I gave up after 2 sets of replacement Skoda emblem wheel centres which all corroded within 18 months & went with all black plastic ones, nothing to corrode & they match the car colour.

This will probably seem a stupid question with an obvious answer, but how do you get these centre caps off without damaging either them or the wheel?

@ArisaigDavid You need to remove the wheels and push them from the backside.

A kind of anti-theft system... 😜

I’ve seen a few videos on you tube with people using windscreen mobile

phone mounts, the ones with the suction cups that you clamp into place. Seems a lot less risky than prizing them out, and certainly less labour intensive than taking the wheels off!

Two great answers - thank you both very much.

I think you have to chose properly your system, since the center caps are not flat. It may be hard to make an efficient suction cup onto center caps and pull them out... :speechless:

But for sure, much quicker and and sweat saving than wheels removing! ;)

Hi guys, just a quick one to add...if you go for the genuine Skoda centre caps, even though they are a bit more expensive, don’t forget that they come with a 2 year parts warranty,so if they do start corroding before 2 years, your supplying dealer should replace them foc under warranty. Just a thought?

With regards to the trick of removing the old ones with a phone mount...brilliant idea! Saves a lot of hassle!

I like the 2 year parts warranty but I bet they claim wear and tear. When I first bought my car I didnt notice some blemishing on the chrome trim round the window. Took the car to have a protective seal put over it and they pointed it out. Went back to the dealer and they said not their problem, I had obviously used the wrong type of car wash detergent.

I have just done this. See details in video description. Very pleased!
