Lose rear calliper carriers Octavia.

Featured Replies

Hi, the garage (non franchise) that my Son uses have told him that the rear calliper carriers are lose (a common problem according to them) and need replacing.  My question is:  is this a common problem,  and why would they need replacing rather than tightening up?  Regards.

These bolts are really tight and have threadlock on them I believe. Never heard of them loosening off.

Would get them checked by another garage.

Seizing up and getting tight is a common problem. Slider pins can wear but never seen it result in loose calipers, proving everything is bolted up ;-)

Thanks for the replies but I think my lad has given them the ok to carry on.  What can you do when he has made up his mind.  Regards.

Hi everyone,  further to this post it seems that it was the front carriers (not rear) and that it is a common problem.  But an expensive job at £246 + each  for genuine parts!   Could have bought after market ones on ebay a lot, lot cheaper and I could have done the job for him.  Youngsters will learn as time and life goes on!!   Regards.

Carrier bolts ( rear ) are stretch bolts. Suppose same for fronts ? Better tightening torque qualities. Are supposed be replaced every time but lock thread would help. Shouldn’t imagine that expensive
