EBC Brake pads

Featured Replies

Hey all. Im looking at getting a set of EBC redstuff pads.

Anyone had them before, any info??

Cheers

Dan.

Personally id go for Ferrodo DS2500 myself.

I've had greenstuff, redstuff and yellowstuff

Green stuff caught fire

Red stuff cracked then crumbled :grumpy:

Yellow stuff faded badly:mad:

Get the Ferrodos

FCP590H for the fronts

Greenstuff are supposed to be a new compound now mind :)

Mintex M1144, or M1155 if you use the power in a vRS.

Also, if you've got ABS, I'd suggest changing pads all round, rather than just at one end since uprated pads give you better stopping by delaying the point where the pad locks the disc, which is pretty much always before the tyre would actually slip on the road.

Mintex M1144 are road approved was told M1155 are not road approved.

M1144 are cheap compared to others for the Octy IIRC about £80 for a set for the fronts from a local motor factors.

had EBC on my Scoob, they were useless!!!!

I now run DS2500 on the Octy, 350 bhp & never any problems including the odd track excursion (Discs are 335x32)

I know they were useless, just wondering if anyone had any experience with the new compound. It is supposed to improve them significantly, but well I'm more looking at Mintex now if i keep the thing.

Tried the V3 don't know if that's the new one or not - it was pants.

I had Greenstuff on my 312's, awesome IMO.

Greenstuff are on at least V4 now.

TBH I was looking at the Mintex 1144 or greenstuff as a low cost upgrade along with a new set of standard disks. I didn't realise the mintex were noisey, bloke in motor factors was saying they make the pagid ones and the 1144 are the same as pagid blue. Also said he used them without problem, but who knows.

(They send them boxes of pagid sometimes when the mintex are ordered :S).

I wish i could afford DS2500 all around, but a) I can't and B) they aren't strictly road legal either are they?

"These DS2500 pads are high performance pads for track use and serious road use"

I never had any problems bringing the car to a standstill when they were cold (one thing that put me off the Mintex 1155's!) so I assume they're fine for normal use too :D The wore very well too - I'd got about 15k out of them when I sold the car and they still had plenty left

Chris

im not sure DS2500 do them for my A4 :(

Ebc use ceramic in there new RED pads now, so are good from cold and work well on track days, seeminly EBC only recommend red for any car running over 200hp

now as the green cant cope with extreme braking on the track/fast road.

Or why not try Tarox as there pads are excellent, sold a few for non skodas though for race use, even though the cars were road use and the owners said the were the best yet

DS2500 are OK for road use as Chris said,

Ferrodos dedicated track pads are DS3000 I believe , the dust off these is I understand likely to eat the finish on your wheels if not cleaned off regularly

I use Pagid Blues and and very pleased with them :thumbup:

IMHE they also squeal to buggery! Ran Greenstuffs on the Scooby and they were useless' date=' but I did hear some good reports about the new compound. Personally, you can't go wrong with some Ferrodo DS2500's ;)

Squeal not my exp of M1144, and I put the pads in myself on the original discs.

What part number are the fronts? I always go for the 2500s and fancy trying something different. How do they compare on price?

I was told Pagid Blue == Mintex C-Sport M1144 as made by same company TMS friction??

Anyone confirm this?
