What features to look for in used car to get cheap pACC and TJA

Featured Replies

I want to upgrade my Octavia and are looking at a Superb and Passat (There are many more Passats available in Denmark on the used market meaning better specs at better prices)

I want predictive ACC and trafic jam assist to have very easy highway cruising.

But I do not want expensive upgrades when I buy the car, so would like to know what I can look for in a Superb, in order mostly just to update the acc sensor to a newer model or using software codes.

For example

I know I need navigation and ACC should probably be there from the start.

But

Is digital cockpit required for pACC?

If a superb dont have Lane assist or trafic sign recognition, will the windscreen need to be replaced / removed to install some new hardware to get pACC?

One model I am looking at is https://www.bilbasen.dk/brugt/bil/skoda/superb/14-tsi-150-style-combi-dsg-5d/5075020 which do not have lane assist, but have high beam assist and ACC

In Denmark Style is the model just below L&K, but Style do not have ACC neither lane assist as standard, so it makes it a lot harder to find in Denmark as cars are super expensive with our 150% tax on cars and equipment

So if the car comes with just high beam assist, it will come with a small low level camera, this can’t do anything else.

to change to the high line camera often referred to as A5 camera means a new windscreen; lots of wiring, parts and coding.

to fit pACC you would also need to upgrade the Acc radar, have it coded and recalibrated.

none of this is cheap or easy sadly

The windscreen on the car he showed is correct for the a5 camera. Get a vin for the car and check the PR codes using erwin

I didn’t look at the link but yes you are correct. The annoying thing is, this still might not come with all the features he is after as some of it requires SWaP codes

You can generate the swap code for pACC...  :)

How can you tell its A5 ? Is it the camera having triangle shape?

I just did a windscreen swap on mine to retrofit a5 camera so I spent a lot of time looking at superb windscreens..
