Sorry if this has been asked before but does VRS actually stand for anything?

By this I mean in Ford terms RS = Rallye Spec or Rallye Sport

So does VRS = Very Rapid Skoda?

RS still means Rally Sport, but when Ford took Skoda to court for use of the RS symbol, Skoda won, so the v is for victory.

Or more specifically, "Victor Rally Sport".

Perhaps someone can explain why it is written 'vRS' with the small 'v'.

Im pritty sure its Victory Rally Sport, its a small v maybe being modest? also its called the rs everywhere else, only in the uk we call it the vRS i dont think they refer to it as being vRS, also i think skoda won because Rally sport really isnt a name is it...therefore skoda could use it and i dont think for would of won if audi got picked on for having the RS3 RS4 etc, smaething i guess with pug gti's and vw gti's?

im from slovakia,and i heard and searched on internet and one guy told me from skoda dealer that the v means shortcut for the city where are the rs made.

v like vrchlabi.there are 3 small towns where they made skodas.

in KVASINY they make superb

in MLADA BOLESLAV they make Skoda Fabia, Fabia estate and sedan, Octavia, Octavia estate

in VRCHLABI they make Skoda Octavia, Octavia 4x4, Octavia L&K, Octavia, RS, Octavia estate, Octavia estate 4x4, Octavia estate 4x4 L&K, Octavia estate RS

it could be the v like victory but i dont think so.

I've heard a few, i've heard the one you explained dino21, i've heard the victory one, and also, a value-rally sport .. from a car magazine. Maybe they were just talking about how good it is.

I am nearly certain it is victory though!

One thing is for sure whatever the origins, the style/brand name combination is moving toward the same kind of cult aura that surrounds the GTI & Ford RS styles that went before. Maybe from a different basis and for different reasons but good nonetheless.

For the Fabia VRS I had I think it stands for Very Reliable Sporty-Skoda!

When Porsche using the name RS it means RennSport. In English it will be RacingSport. The V is only the logotype for Skodamotorsport. Europe including Czech and India called it RS.

When i was at a garage having the tracking checked the bloke said to me is it the van RS, to which i thought he was being funny! But no he showed me the list on his computer van RS
