Installing memory seat module on front passager seat, possible?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a MY2017 L&k Superb, thus it has 2 electric front seats. It's a LHD version.

Since few days, one of my kids is old enough to sit on the front passenger seat. But she's too small to see the road, when the seat has the settings that my wife likes. She needs to raise it a bit.

But I now imagine my wife may be quickly fed up with adjusting 'her' seat position each time my older kid has been sitting on the front passenger seat.

Since a memory seat module is available on driver seat for both LHD and RHD version, I was wondering if it could be feasible to install the memory seat module from a RHD version on my front passenger seat to solve this 'problem' and make everyone happy.

I assume I would need the memory module, the button, a small harness to connect the system, and then a bit of VCDS coding.

Do I miss something?

Note: I did not pair the settings to any of the 3 key fobs, so this would not be an issue that it could make a mess with front passenger memories.

Any advice on this mod? Thanks for your feedbacks. :)

When you add a module, you add it as a passenger seat module on your right hand seat so it wouldn’t mess with the keys or driver settings anyway. Not sure how much there is to add, but it’s possible.

@SashaGrace I would have bet, you would be one of the first to answer! The Queen of VCDS mods!... ;)

I've just been looking on an online ETKA and it seems, I should only need to add the memory buttons. No harness, no dedicated module!

P/N is then 3V0959769A. It costs ~32€

If anyone with RHD L&K could share the coding of its driver seat, it would be much appreciated.

Does anyone also know how to declare this new feature to overall system (Module 19-Gateway ?) ?

Thanks.

Unless there is a way to tell the car that there r now 2 (driver's and passenger's) seat memory positions to store, I'm not sure adding a second seat memory controller will work?

The seat memory controller also stores the wing mirror positions.  So wat effect will there b adding another seat memory module?

Also how would it impact the Personalisation settings?

I'd imagine a master and slave module combo would b required.

When I got my "chrome" version of the seat buttons, I moved the original button to the passenger seat.  I didn't see any wire harnesses.  Looking under the passenger seat, I noticed a blank spot for where the seat module would go - but I didn't see any wiring from the car up to the seat, and hence the module.

Would b nice to see if it can actually b done.

Either, below is the coding from my driver's seat (RHD).

Did a bit more research......its not a simple job if u want the memory function.

The seat electric motors are different between seats without memory function and seats with Memory function.

Passenger seat motors will only have two pins not the four required for Memory function.

The driver's seat with memory function electric motors will have encoders fitted.

If ur feeling brave, here is some Russian reading, done on a Tiguan.

Sorry I didn’t push any further my mod idea. Mainly because of lack of time.

😞

The only way I could see to do it would be to get an opposite side driver seat, for example I would find a european drivers seat but even then, where would the cable plug into the loom ?

There is no cable, you’d have to make a custom loom that taps into the can network and even then you should not do this. Putting 2 of the same module on a canbus network will cause havoc as they will both have the same network ID and double up communications.

I think it can be coded to have two seat controllers.

Using OBDEleven, I can see there is a passenger option, that can b enabled.

I have the heated/ventilated leather seats.

I'm assuming that is related to the seat memory controller.

Did anyone succeed installation of memory seats on passenger side.

Also any possibility to enable massage function for driver seat.
