Hi all 

 

can I ask what and why these are red for? I’ve only just noticed this? 

They're red to save having a harsh colour affect on your night-time driving.

Didn't actually notice the main bulbs having a red tinge!

I've never noticed any redness from that panel on my 2018 vRS...

 

Could a previous owner have tinted them or used red bulbs perhaps?

I was wondering about "because they're red tinted bulbs?" too.

This is what I’m trying to figure out, when the lights are on they are the standard reading light colour but driving and even during the day there is a red tint. Even tho it does look good I’m trying to get to the bottom of why. 

Can you contact the previous owner & ask what modification has been done?.  Why would you want them on during the day?.

 

Or, is there a fault with the circuit board & they are receiving a small amount of power just to illuminate them?.

I dont think that they are illuminated, its probably the daylight passing through the red bulb tint & being reflected by the reflector.

 

I have just rewired the latest trailer to my fleet, the running lights on the mudguards show white to the front & red to the rear (2 coloured lens) the front ones white only. Unpowered & in daylight the front ones looked red, it was the light hitting the red crimp connectors inside and being diffused by the reflector lens.

 

Yellow continental bulbs in headlights gave the same effect.

Whip the cover off and take a look at the bulbs, it'll take 30 seconds. It looks like the bulbs have been replaced.
