First AdBlue fill and it didn’t go to plan……..

Featured Replies

Run the AdBlue range down to less than 1,000 miles then 10L might/should go in.

But whatever, when the filler neck goes “Glug, Glug, Glug” - it’s time to stop.

Or else you’ll get “peed upon”.

I was only 400 miles short of that distance and could only get half the 10l container in.  Even though the tank was full, or more accurately I couldn’t get any more in, the system said I could still get between 3.5 and 5.5 litres in there.  That’s after ~7,000 miles from new.  What concerns me is when I can’t get any more in I get a “range” of 3,500 miles, which I’m interpreting as either I didn’t actually fill the tank or I did fill it and the system has an issue calculating how much has been used and how much is now in there.  I’ll leave it the range count gets to the hundred and try again, pos via a forecourt pump.

Michael Collins didn't have to chuck a couple of gallons of AdBlue  into the command module tanks for the return journey while Armstrong and Aldrin went down to the moon, though.

Maybe that’s what went wrong on Apollo 13, the AB tank wasn’t full.

:D:D

For those with a TDI with SCR or any vehicle that needs AdBlue that is leased from MOTABILITY you can have your AdBlue top ups at Main Dealers of the Brand you have for 'free'.

It counts as part of the 'Service Package'.

If you are going in for just the Adblue and not a 'Service' then best not just arrive, give a call and ask when you can arrive to have them top up the AdBlue.

If your car is getting the last Service & MOT pre hand back the dealership might just add some Adblue and not do a full top up.

Greed on their part as they are well paid for that last Service & MOT being carried out before the vehicle goes to auction.

My Adblue supply arrived today so decided to store some in my Bear gather than my garage.

Dash read range 1,000 so the first 10L went straight in.

For fun I opened the second container and was a bit surprised when another 3.25L went in.

Range jumped to 6,500.

The biggest fill I’ve ever done.

Bear?

Thanks Berisford - it's obvious now you mention it!

I'm new to the Skoda forums, but I am very familiar with Citroen Adblue systems and the frequent issues with Adblue tanks. in fact I had to have one replaced ~3 years ago, thankfully under warranty. I'm surprised there is talk on here about adding only 5L at a time, and then someone managing to get in excess of 10L in. The Citroen tanks have a 17L capacity and it is easy to get 15L in when the countdown starts. Range is usually ~10,000 miles. So is the Karoq tank a lot smaller, and are there any similar issues with the tank/pump as crop up so frequently on Citroen forums? Just interested, my Skoda on order is petrol.

From memory the tank should be 12 ltrs, and deffo didn’t want to accept more than 1/2 the 10ltr container when the dash indicated it should take the whole lot.  The “range” has dropped by 1,000 miles since I filled it up, which is about right cf the mileage I’ve done in the car since.  Now got 2,500 miles until empty and can add approx 3.5 - 4.5l (from memory) but will leave it until I’ve done another 2,000 miles.

Sooooooooo, bit of an update.  Car was in the dealers for reversing camera and dash cam fit and I mentioned the issue with filling the AB.  Servicing chap had a chat with technical chap and the conclusion was the car had a 7ltr AB tank so that would explain why I could only get 5 ltrs in there.

Begs the question, 7ltr tank or the 12ltr tank the manual says is there?  Advice was run it low and fill it up, then keep an eye on it for the nest few days.  Hmmmmmmm, not convinced.
