Replacing rear parcel shelf speakers in vRS

Featured Replies

So i've decided i would possibly like to replace the two rear speakers in my '06 vRS, and have been having a look at them (theyre either side of the parcel shelf mounted in plastic bits) and for some reason they seem to have FOUR blooming wires rather than two...does anyone know why?

Don't ask why i might be replacing them by the way :)

Quick answer... the extra 2 cables go off to the tweeters in the rear doors...

Anyone care to post a detailed explination as I'm no audio expert :)

I was thinking that might be it, i am also an audio newbie...i was thinking along the same lines, and was coming to terms with the fact that if i replaced the rear speakers i would loose the tweeters - which might now be a big deal if i am buying some decent rear speakers anyway...?

They look like standard 13's but i have'nt actually had them out yet - can anyone confirm the size and any ideas what i should replace them with?

Thanks Blade404 :)

I think u can replace the speakers and still use the standard tweeters.. or you could replace the rear speakers and tweeters with an uprated set of components... as to what makes/models etc.. I've no idea as to what would be best suited.

This is something I've been giving some thought to but as yet I'm not going to attempt it :D

the rear speakers are 10cm, but I've not found a set which will match up to the mounting points (only because I've not looked hard enough)

At the moment to take the sound away from the poorer rear speakers, I have my head unit set on quite a significant amount of front fade. This means the bass is clearer as my infinity kappa woofers appear to handle it a lot better than the oem rear ones. :) :speaker:

Will replacing them make any difference. I think the standard rear speakers are fine. The front ones yes. They are poor but the rears as well? IMO i'd leave them there!

:) the rear speakers are there just because people expect them to be...tbh the from woofers if done properly will sound fantastic dont waste time on the rear start from the front for now in my old one i just put 6x9's in kicked enough bass out...
