Dodgy blower resistor?

Featured Replies

My 2006 TDi with AC has developed fan speed issues as well as not coming on but it’s a mixture of both. It hasn’t not come on at all, just odd behaviour.

Is there a blower motor resistor I need to change?

Just like my old Mpi this car has weird window operation/central locking stuff going on but it’s never a big problem. It’s just like the control box gets slightly confused! My recirculating air function hasn’t been quite right for some time (maybe a year..) but again, not been a biggie to worry about.

Thought I’d best mention those other electrical anomalies but I suspect the blower might just be a resistor fault as I think this explains my symptoms.

input appreciated on it incl accessing/finding resistor Many Thanks

Door/window oddities won't be relevant to the blower fan, nor will the recirc flap motor, which has probably failed on the majority of mk1s still on the road, unless it's been replaced since build.

Thanks for link to that.

Recirculating seemed to present as an issue a long time ago. Something like the button lighting up of its own accord and not pressing off, and more recently being unable to select it BUT I’m pretty sure I could hear the flap opening and closing randomly at times!

My two mk1 Fabia’s seem to be good at doing impressions of Alfa/Lancia/Fiat electrics!

The flap is supposed to shut every time you select reverse gear, which is arguably why they wear out their motors/potentiometers so well.

Ah right. Mine certainly seemed to be opening and closing much more randomly!!

Only on cars with A/C I think. Just for reference.

No, mine did that from new - no aircon

Fair enough. Mine has never done it. Maybe some base models don't have it programmed.
