Felica 1.3 Lxi - Intermitant Starting probs

Featured Replies

Hi all :)

Sorry to introduce myself with a problem but I'm sure you like a challenge.

My Skoda wont start at all now! It used to be intermittant but now its dead.

Basically it fires up first turn of the key then dies, no amount of playing with

accelerator will keep it going, it's literally once fire and dead.

A break down guy mentioned ECU and lots of money which worries me.

I disconnected the battery two weeks ago to jump my wifes car, then reconnected it after about 10 days, hey presto it starts. For 3 days it started, drove all fine( I tested it about 5 times a day) Then suddenly nothing again!!

Please help

Cheers

Rich

Hi Richard. This sounds like the problem I hope I've just cured on mine. It sometimes started fine, other times it started, ran for perhaps a second then cut out. The accepted wisdom (Autodata Manual) is that the immobiliser is faulty, either the device itself (in the ECU) or the chip in the ignition key. However, I discovered some swarf on my Hall sensor, and the car has behaved itself since cleaning this off. For other suggestions see my posting 'Two second drive.' Good Luck - Robert.

Thanks Rob

Actually having trawled through all 8 pages of problems with Felicias, I read a article about a guy waiting for keys then talking about the car not starting as the immobiliser hadn't been coded!

Suddenly all was clear, the intermitant fault is that for ages I used my key, no issue. then the skoda went to the garage and I used my wifes key!, Wouldn't start, so I have one working key and one non working key!!

I cant belive it could be that simple bearing in mind I have wasted 2 weekends doing the usual, plugs, leads, dist cap etc etc.:D

Any way all sorted now!

How do I get the key fixed?

Cheers

Rich

They will both need to be reporgrammed, for this you will need the cars security code and diagnostic equipment.
