Deactivate alarm

Featured Replies

Hi is there a way of not activating the alarm system rather than isolation of the interior sensor. Going on a car ferry and alarm should be left unset but the doors locked. Many thanks

I'm pretty certain that if you deactivated in the infotainment menu, or push the remote lock button twice in succession, this not only does this deactivate the interior sensor but also deactivates the tilt sensors. Therefore the alarm is totally deactivated.

Thank you.

Hi Superbrex

Did the above work for you on the ferry crossing you did? I am going in a couple of weeks and the manual talks about disabling the interior monitoring and tilt sensor via the vehicle setting menu, but the only option in there to untick is interior monitoring and I wonder if it all comes under that?

Cheers

So I’m guessing after 2016/7, they removed the interior and tilt sensor disable button at the bottom of the B post?

Yes they did, mine is a 2018 MY. The manual just references disabling interior and tilt monitoring through relevant menu on infotainment system, but only option in there references interior monitoring. I guess it has to be assumed this does both, but I'm trying to find out for definite.

Must’ve saved a € or 2 to go down the software route, but that in itself, makes it more difficult solution than a switch.

Yes it does both and works fine on our Kodiaq which we regularly use on ferries to and from Belfast.

One thing to be wary of though is that it automatically resets both to 'on' when you next unlock.  So if you lock the car on the ferry and then realise you've forgotten something and unlock and open the car to get it you'll need to turn the ignition on and untick the box again...

In my 2023 Superb you simply close the door and press the lock button twice. The red alarm light flashes briefly and then doesn’t flash again - job done.

Cheers for the replies and tips, I'll see how I get on.
