Cambelt Change

Featured Replies

Evening all,

My cambelt is going to need changing soon as I'm rapidly approaching 50k (I know strictly speaking it's a 60k interval, but I'd say I probably drive mine a bit harder than normal so for peace of mind and all that :)). Thing is, I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment so managing to afford main dealer cambelt costs will be tricky - is there any issue with getting this changed by a reputable local garage? With regard to OEM parts etc?

Thanks. :)

As long as they use OEM parts its all gravy.

And IIRC you cambelt is due at 80k ;)

Cheers. :)

Ross, could you check this please? I am pretty sure I was told 60k for mine. Mine was registered about April 2002 I think. But that presumeably doesn't mean it was manufactured then. I recall it was about that time the interval changed from 60k to 80k?

If I remember correctly the interval changed on the Octavia TDi.

I thought all Fabia PD's were 80k, i'll double check tomorrow.

Thanks. :)

Pretty sure my 2001 PD100 had 60k mile intervals.... :D
