How to remove the QI “Aircharge Box” from the mobile phone tray.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.   Hope you’re all okay.

I wondered if anybody could give me guidance on how to remove (properly) the QI Charging Box from the phone holder on a Karoq?

My QI charger is malfunctioning - have tried different phones both Android and Apple - both throw up charging errors after a few seconds.   I have a QI charger indoors that charges both phones with no problem.

Vehicle is 3yrs 6 moths and all was well until last Monday.

Any guidance very welcome.

Thank you.

Maybe I'm out of topic, but why don't don't you use the warranty to fix it, since you should have 6 months of it still?

Isn't the standard warranty 3 years?  The car is 3years 6 months old.

I had the same error when I charged my phone on the Qi charger initially, but since then I have figured out that if I turn the phone around (upside down with the screen pointing upwards) then the error disappears.

I suspect that the Qi charger coil aligns poorly if you phone is too big or too small, so rotating it 180º while the display still points upwards aligns the coil better for my iPhone 12.

The cause for your error might be faulty Qi charger of course, but I suggest to test it out in case this solves the issue for you.

Yes, that’s correct.  Pity it is out of warranty.

Thank you, I’ve tried the phone both ways and no difference.  As explained, has been no problem until the last week - iPhone X always charged without problem.  Phone is okay as works with QI Charging Base in house.  Tried older Android phone with QI adapter, this also does not work in the vehicle.

I’m fairly certain it’s the 'Block' in the phone box/holder in the car.  Just need instructions for removal.  Have obtained Part Number for the QI Box - but I’m definitely not paying Main Dealer rates for the Labour!

Out of warranty - thank you.

Have you checked the fuses? On my MY21 car, fuse 16 guards the USB ports, diagnostic connector and phone box, but it will probably be a different one on your car. But if you look in the manual to see if any other functions are linked to the same fuse and then check whether they are faulty too, I'd try replacing that fuse??
