Chemical Guys White Light

Featured Replies

Hi, all.

Just discovered Chemical Guys a couple of months ago.  I am sure a lot of you have, earlier than I have.

Thought I'd share the result of using their White Light.

Happy with it and I recommend it to anyone looking for something for their white cars.  I also used their rubber trim restorer: top notch product!

Slight diversion, but I used Chemical Guy's Clay bar (which is considerably cheaper than AutoGlym's product) - on our VRS yesterday to get rid of a whole load of dead paint.

What a product!!!!

Hey @varaderoguynot a diversion, at all, since we are on the topic of Chem Guys (and I don't work for them, haha).  I thought it would be helpful to fellow Briskoders to share thoughts on cleaning products, we use.  I have access to AutoGlym here and I bought their foam soap for the power washer on sale.  Not a bad product, at all.  A bit dear when it is full price, albeit.

Tried the Chem Guys Cherry Wet Wax yesterday.  Another amazing wax from them.

Tried quite a few Chemical Guys products they where okay but have switched to EZ car care products now. There stuff just seems to last longer plus they always have offers on when buying in bulk. They also do one of the best car drying towels I have ever used.

Thank you for the tip, @purephotoni.  I am continuously looking for different products to try.  I was using Meguiar's for the longest time.  Worked for the longest time but I know there are some better ones out there.

The gloss and depth look pretty impressive.

Thank you, @TheClient!  Happy with it, so far.

Any recommendations on Bug and Tar removers fellow white Octavia owners :)

I've used Autoglym Bug & Tar remover but instructions say apply to rag/towel and rub onto car but I find I need to pour it onto the car directly from the bottle and wait for it to start dissolving the tar.

Also tried WD-40 and that Muc-Off bike cleaner as suggested elsewhere but still not great.

Same - it's great at getting glue from old badges etc off, but it's pretty mild at getting even only slightly squished bugs off the front and tar is even more difficult, taking several sessions & considerable elbow grease..

I bought a bottle of AutoBrite Just the Tonic bug & tar remover pre-pandemic, and it was excellent - but can't seem to find it anywhere on shelves any more... If you can, might be worth a punt?

Apply your autoglym bug remover onto a piece of kitchen towel and stick or lay it on panel. It should help it soak.

Butter/margarine also dissolves tar, learnt that from my parents at the beach when tar would wash up and got it on my hands but I cannot say I've tried putting it on a car, it would then need degreasing. Lol.

Bugs and Tar should be treated differently.

Most bug products I have used are OK.

For tar, you need "tardis" by Autosmart (which can be tricky to get hold of, or https://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/products/carpro-trix-iron-and-tar-remover to do iron and tar in one hit
