Unable to connect ELM327 with VCTools (Over bluetooth)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm own the Skoda 2021 (A8), and I want it to remember the Lane assist option after I turn off the Car.

I just bought the ELM327, installed VCTool on my laptop, connected to my VCTool account.

I've hooked the ELM327 to the car, opened the hood, put it on parking, connected it to the laptop via bluetooth.

So far so good.

But when I try to find the device on VCTool I can't find it. in the drop-down I only see "Com3" and "Com4", selecting any wont give me any device, also the "Test" button return no results...

Any idea what to do?

Windows should detect USB-to-Serial device. Check the device manager for incomplete driver installation. Be aware there are two version of ELM 327, version 1.5 (original clone) and new Chinese version 2.1. There are completely different hardware and have different AT commands. I used 1.5 with VCTool. Check with VCTool support which firmware they support.

But from your output I would say you are missing drivers for your dongle.

Talked to VCTool, they replied very quickly I must say!

They told me that what I bought was a bad clone, and recommended this one instead
