Well Done Citygates!

Featured Replies

Must tell you a little story about an incident that happened at my dealers (Citygates - Chichester) today.

Whilst waiting for a bit of warranty work to be carried out I noticed an elderly gentleman wandering around the vehicles outside and overheard one of the sales assistants say "it's him again"!.

He had bought two cars in as many months, both of which were returned to the dealers at a substatial loss to him because he had no driving licence which had been taken from him on 'doctors orders' as he was suffering the onset of Altzheimers!. (This was only established after the sale of the second vehicle).

The man pleaded with the salesman to let him buy a third car showing him a briefcase which he said 'contained the cash', but because of the history he refused the sale and was very polite suggesting that he might be better off going home (in the meantime another sales assistant had contacted his wife to let him know where he was and what he was up to).

After some persuasion he agreed to catch the next bus home but was seen by me heading for the Ford dealership accross the road  . We contacted the Ford garage and again after much persuasion agreed to return to the Skoda dealership where a taxi had been organised to return him home.

The taxi driver arrived and the man asked him to take him to the nearest Honda dealership   , but we instructed him to take the man home despite his protests.

A little later his wife phoned to say that he had returned safely and thanked the staff for what they had done.

All dealerships in the area have now been contacted alerting to the man and his condition so that he won't be taken advantage of in future.

Personally I think the Skoda dealership acted admirably under the circumstances in looking after an elderly gentleman who was clearly not in control of his actions. I salute you

 Sad to see this kind of thing happening, but good to see it was well dealt with by Skoda, and all the other dealerships nearby. :)

Yep - Just the sort of thoughtful service you'd like to see.

Nice one, and a  to the other dealers, and the taxi driver involved, too :)

in this dog eat dog world my spirit has been raised a little with this story, well done to all concerned....

Bet BMW will sell him a car!

Got a lovely volvo for sale can you get him to pm me

 Dealers

Another thumbs up for Citygates from me.

Was over there today scratching around for some information about an upcoming project.

The parts guy, as always, was extremely helpful and then they allowed me out the back to speak with the Techies etc. Top blokes all round, very friendly and helpful.

I agree with all of you that this was the best thing to have done, and that it was admirable of the dealers.

But strictly speaking it was false imprisonment - taking someone to where they didn't want to go against their will.

I'm surprised that the taxi driver was willing to go along with it - I'd be interested to hear what the taxi driver members on Briskoda think about it.

The taxi driver had probably just finished reading the parable of the Good Samaritan

Good result.

A related story. My elderly neighbour reversed out of her garage into a car recently. After hearing the noise I then saw her panic, drive forward, hit a tree, swerve and then almost hit my Fabia before stopping in the middle of a junction. She was in such a state I had to drive her car back into her garage for her. Apparently she's just been in hospital and is regularly missing medication and even meals. I'm just worrried for my kids safety as she didn't seem to realise what was happening.

It's not the first time she's done this and she was out driving again 2 days later.

Worth a driving license review me thinks
