Front grill badge swap

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm picking up a 2018 grey facelift vRS combi this week and the first thing I'm going to do is swap for the Kopacek black badges. Question is, how do I remove the front one on the grill? I've search and can't seem to find a definitive answer.

You pull hard, no really. I warmed my grill badge up a bit first to soften the glue with a hair dryer, my other halves hairdryer as I have no hair. Lol. Then just got hold of it and pulled. It came off with a crack. Rubbed down the grill with sandpaper where the new badge goes to give the new glued on badge something to grip onto. I also bought all my new badges from Kopacek. 2 new ones at the front and 2 at the back. All chrome badges are now long gone.

Looks like the leap of faith will be needed. At least the badge on my current Audi S3 was clipped into the grill

You can buy from Kopacek bolt on VRS grill badges, but seeing the bolts holding it on would just not look right. Kopacek actually sent me the bolt on one by mistake, so I had to send it back before they posted out the glued on one I ordered. You use your own glue mind, I used Araldite. Just make sure you get it straight before the glue goes off. Welcome to this site by the way, as I see it's your first post.

Hi mate,

Just did mine the other day, like another user said you do have to put some force into it.

I heated it up, used some fishing line like you would on the other badges and just went around it (you can’t go through as the pins are there) & then just pulled till it moved off without much resistance.

Good luck!

Yeah I had a 2017 Octavia Challenge Xtreme diesel when I bought it new in Ireland but since I moved to the Netherlands in 2019 I've been driving around in a stage 1 S3 which I have kept the Revo carbon intake for and that'll be basically going on this weekend when I pick up the car on Friday.
