How to remove the DSG trim?

Featured Replies

Could someone please tell me how to access the blank button panels in the DSG Trim?

Thanks

U need a trim removal tool, pry carefully from the top, leveraging it upwards.  Where the arrow is in the bottom pic.

Then do the same from the bottom.

Do I need to remove the DSG trim to gain access to behind the ashtray?

Does anyone know where this black wire belongs?  it has no solder on it or clips/connector on it which makes it strange!

At a guess, it'll be the unused pin on the black connector...

There won't be any solder as VAG don't solder connectors on. Instead, the wire has probably pulled out of it's crimp and the crimp is still in the black connector :)

Thanks Rob.

I'll have another look but i couldnt see the crimp in the connector - Im assuming its in the same cohert of wires going to the aux jack port.

May just use it as the negative feed for my LEDS!

Don't assume that black means negative, it virtually never does in VW group cars. More often used for ignition 12V, earths are generally brown.

Example WD from an Octavia... Colours seem to match up and show black as the shield:

In the past, I'm sure shield would be connected to pin 4 of the aux socket. Much like this pic:

Checked yesterday and there is no crimp in the connector!  Maybe it fall out when I pulled the module out.
