satnav off road ???

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, i have purchase a 2021 skoda karoq and what ever postcode is entered ,it comes up with "off road", also displays co-ordinates in destination memory???

I  cannot remember who's who from their co-ordinates , this seems to be a fault on this system,

The satnav on my old Yeti was not like this

Has any others had this problem? and what is the cure please

This is a common design feature (ie design fault) on VAG's MIB3 satnavs, and has been reported many many times. (See threads on MIB3 infotainment systems on this and other forums for details of all the shortcomings, including map updates etc.)

UK residential postcodes typically refer to several houses if not streets, and so navigating purely to a UK postcode can only take you to the centre of that area and not an individual address. And the new MIB3 systems don't let you zoom in on an actual address after entering the postcode (because European addresses don't require it and VAG are too busy sorting out their electric car software to bother with a solely UK problem.)

There is no 'cure' except to navigate to an address or lat/long coord and save it under a personalised name. VAG are supposed to be working on software improvements (see AutoExpress) but no idea when.

Thank you very much for your very prompt response to my query, to say i'm disappointed is an under statement, the dealership did not mention this when i purchased my car (5/8/20210)I have spoken to Skoda uk, who directed me the dealership service department , who directed me back to skoda uk!! who the emailed the sales manager to contact me, as they say the sales team should have informed me, still waiting for contact from dealers, have received a case reference number to go back to skoda uk

thanks again

John

Whilst this has been debated in previous posts (as mentioned above).

I suppose you could possibly have a case to reject the car IF it says in the manual that you can enter a location using the postcode and the dealers are unable to prove to you that it can work like that.

But you can enter a postcode location, what it doesn't allow you to do is select one of the 15 properties within that postcode.

Using my postcode would get you to the main town and then you would have to try 11676 different households in the town and the surrounding villages to find your destination.

I would love to be directed to within 15 dwellings.

And yet La Poste can find me from just my surname and no address on an envelope!!!!

Correction in line, italic.

I know exactly what you mean @KenONeill but think there may be an additional riposte from @J.R. as his French language prowess will exceed ours. 👍

It was written correctly but I understand why you would want to write le postman Pat :)

If I knew who had delivered the letter I would have said Le Facteur or La Factrice but in the absence of that info or if it is irrelevant (for example if it was the system rather than their diligence that got the letter to the right address) then it would be La Poste.

It should be common knowledge in the VAG dealer network... and it first surfaced in VW T-Rocs way back in Spring 2020 when that was the first VAG car to get the MiB3 systems (closely followed I believe by Skoda Scalas and Kamiqs?)

The article only mentions the controls for the satnav, not the OP's problem, which admittedly is faulty software.  And these physical-control-free systems are across the industry, not just VAG, with Tesla probably the worst offenders.  Their headlamp controls are in the touchscreen menus on the Model 3...

La Poste = the Post Office
