Footwell Lights Install Help

Featured Replies

Looking to install some LED lights in the footwell that come on with lights that cut out after a short period of time or when you start the car.

Now, I would imagine the best place to take a positive feed from would be the wire that feeds the red lights on the from doors. Would this be correct and where would I be able to lay my hands on a wiring diagram for this part of the car. Also, how does the fascia around the bottom of the door attach, is it clipped in or attached by screws? Any pointers on this would be canny

Thanks

Pretty sure I've discussed this with someone else.

What diagram do you need?? Surely you'll just be piggy backing the lights in the doors or are you looking to pick it up further back in the car? Again shouldn't be too hard as once you've checked to see what colour the wires are you should be able to find them in the footwell loom.

You can probably get to most of the door lights without removing the door cards - the fronts should be removable for bulb/lamp changes.

I think you can get footwell lights a'la Superb that might do the job.

Yeah, looking to tap into the door lights. From what you say if the live for the door light has a specific colour cable I should be able to pick this up from just inside the door!?! This would be the preferred option then scotchlok this to produce a live feed for front and back!

Thought of using LED lighting just for lack of heat they give off..... although, if they are only on a short time it should be a problem.

Thanks

I managed to install a set of red LED lights in the footwells today along with a couple of small LED's pointining out of the little tray and onto the 2 drinks holders.... makes them easier to see now as they were not illuminated. There are also a couple pointing to the tray behind the ash tray. Works well with a red VRS overall :D

The footwell lights only come on when you get in the car or take the key out of the ignition, while the others only work while the key is in the ignition and switch off when the key is removed.

My Richbrook gear stick surround turned up today and as Robbo mentioned in a previous thread it didn't fit ....... at first ;) But after a few nervious tweaks, it went in and looks the biz :D Here's a couple of pics....

Looks like you need some screen wash now :P

It took some nifty footwork to get the laptop from the pavement into the garage when it first started  just made it in time before the it came down in buckets :D

Edit '' doh..... picture didn't show the rain... wrong end of stick again :D The warning light has been on 3 days and I still haven't remembered to do it and swmbo has the car at the mo..... I will remember when I am rushing to work tomorrow :D

Copy cat . . . .

file.php?n=60&w=o

:D

Looks nice, what did you take the feed off for your tray lights? Mine are connected to the head unit illumination feed so my tray lights are adjustable with the rest of the interior lights. :P:thumbup:

Cheers ;) ..... The 2 in the tray and the 2 pointing down to the tray behind the ashtray are all connected to the illimination feed.

The feed for the footwells was taken from the passenger side door light.... got access to this after taking out the glove box

OMG please tell me someone didn't just say 'Scotchlok'

I thought the moderators on here would have ensured that was considered a swear word by now.

The ashtray shiners are an idea I've been musing . . . along with 101 other little mods like that, just don't have time at the moment. :(
