Service due - Dealer concern

Featured Replies

My 280 is due a service soon, booked online for a Minor, but unsure if that's what is needed.

Got a call back from the Main Dealers service department (or their receptionist) firstly to say the online system was a week behind where they are taking bookings, no big deal, but slightly annoying.

Said it to the guy that I wasn't sure what service was due, could he check the Digital Service Plan system and let me know, car was always looked after by another Skoda Main Dealer.

He says they don't have access to it, now very confused, is that not why they all got rid of Service Books???

Have emailed them with the concerns, just not what I would have expected at all.

I'm far from a snowflake, but have had my last cars for 8 and 10 years and plan the same for the 280 and want to keep it right.

Especially after making it my own 🤩

The selling dealer did give me the history of the car, but is all listed as 'Flexible oil change service' then extras listed.

I work on semi-conductor machinery and always have a clear maintenance schedule.

Please tell me I'm not asking too much to ask the Main Dealer Network to know the service intervals???

The online service record isn't great. My outgoing Passat has a 40k mile gap on the online records. It also makes no mention of the multiple repairs it's had under warranty.

I'm guessing they could recite the interval for a 2.0 TDI from memory, but probably need to check the system for the slightly rarer models.

If the dealer isn't helpful, are there any others you can use in the area?

What matters is what has been done since 2017, and what it was the last time and how many miles has the car done.

Year 4 is not really a Minor Service, but then they are no Longer Minor & Major.  Or Major / Major each 2 years.

Brake Fluid was due @ 3 years, or t least tested.

This should be a 2nd Pollen Filter.    If at 40,000 miles the DSG is due an Oil Change.  It is not 4 yearly, or at the 2nd Major Service.

Skoda Main Dealer prices to change an Air Filter or Pollen Filter are ridiculous.

Do yourself if you can.

This was the prices but they are up now.

Best get an Independent with all the Gear and more than ideas on doing VW Group cars.

After my recent experiences with the main dealer system in England, Northern Ireland and Eire vs a local independent, I’ll never use the network again.
