Ordered 2.0 Tsi manual Octavia VRS , 300hp tuneable?

Featured Replies

Greetings everyone,
Went to a Skoda dealership to look at a 2018 Vauxhall Insignia 1.6t 200ps model then pulled the trigger and ordered a Octavia VRS 2.0 petrol manual(had to be) 😅

Anyways was wondering if the mechanicals can handle a 300hp tune ?? And is the 2fwd good for it ?

Ps I ordered late July and was told approx 15/16 weeks and the latest delivery date of 31 December 2021, read some posts from people been given March 2022 delivery dates 😟

The MK4 can't be tuned (remapped), well not yet anyway.

I’m pretty sure there should be remapping options in time .. I hope 🤞

Currently it's possible to "tune" it only with external boxes like Racechip or ABT.

300+ (yes a massive 302 in fact) is a handful from launch - hard not to trip the diff with wheelspin, but once on the move its a great shove in the back when you hit it. I'd still do the chip thing it if I could because I like to be able to give it some now and again. If you're doing 70 on the motorway and some idiot is too close as soon as the traffic opens up you can just leave them unless they are driving a very fast car. I think the fact its a Skoda doing it is more of an annoyance to the panzer wagon drivers than anything else.

It looks like there's a map in progress/under development as we speak. I've just had my ECU plugged in so that they can check the type/version

and it matches basically all of the current gen VW/Audi ECUs.

I guess they might be putting priority on factory orders over showroom stock orders

It’s a lovely Q car , I’ve only seen 1 or 2 non vrs Mk4 on the road

I'm looking forward to the day it's out of factory warranty.

I was told that basically other than the tune, the only difference between the Occy 4 vRS and the Dub R engine setup is the size of the turbo and breather tubes! 😱🤪😁

@DNCwhy wait until out the the manufacturers warranty?

If you trust the remap you might as well do it now and if it goes wrong then you just foot the bill the same as you will need to do when the warranty expires

I'm working in the theory that if it hasn't broken by the end of the warranty then it probably won't however if something does go wrong, VAG have no excuse to knock me back for a repair!

That is  good theory.

Makes little sense really if you have the need for speed but only once you have no warranty to fall back on.

There is a phrase that says: "Fools go where angels fear to tread"!

It's less about the warranty, than my need for a reliable car; one that doesn't leave me stranded on a motorway hard shoulder! Remember that a quick driver doesn't need a quick car and the lovely Sabine Schmitz (bless her sole) proved that point nicely!

I'm way to old and wise to jumping straight on the "must have more power" train; that is, before everyone else has ironed out the wrinkles!  I understand the MK4 vRS is delivered "factory fresh" with enough software issues to gain an invite to the Skoda UK, 2022 staff Christmas Party! 🎉🎊🎉 ........and my plan is to lay the basic  groundwork for a power upgrade over the next 3 or so years; I also have a 2012 JCW for seat of the pants Sunday fun and track time, so I have no rush! 😃👍

If the aim alone was to have more power, then I'd have ordered a new Golf R, Audi S3 or RS3 etc. or purchased a second hand Maserati that can be had for less cash, however I don't, so I didn't!

Refering back to the start of my post, there is also a phrase: "Who dares Wins"!, so take your pick and I'll stick to my plan, cheers!  LOL👍😉
