Light Assist Vs Dynamic Light Assist

Featured Replies

So I have successfully managed to enable light assist on my car. But I just assumed it would be the one which orientates the beam to prevent dazzling (DLA) as opposed to simply turning them off (LA/DLA)

Does anyone know if I need to have some special headlights for this function of is it pure coding?

DLA needs different headlights to control the beam shape :)

A 2016 Superb probably uses bi-xenon headlights. Based on that:

- standard headlights will use a normal shutter to enable the high beam

- DLA headlights will use a roller shutter to give the various beam shapes

If you do want DLA, you'd need new headlights and probably new controllers/datasets to get it working...

As @langers2kmentioned, u need different headlights - Smart Light Assist (SLA) versions.

Skoda's equivalent of DLA on the mk3 Superb, that uses bi-xenons with rollers and shutters to do the masking and shaping of the high beam.

visually, they look exactly the same.

the only tell take sign is the whiskers or eye lashes light up on the SLA versions.

I've did the retrofit a few years ago. U can read about it here.

Essentially u need different headlights (part number ends in B), different AFS slave modules (x2), new D3S globe holders (x2), and different dataset parameter file for the 4B module.

Was it difficult to do? Is there a guide that you used?

Maybe it's just the camera but it looks like it's very slow to respond to the oncoming cars, did it dim when you came to the lit up area? I could see a lot of drivers flashing me here in Ireland, can you override it with the stalk?

No it's not slow.

No it's not as fast as a human resting his/her finger on the stalk.

Yes, it does drop when it sees street lights - u can see that at the end of the video clip.

I don't know if u can override it.  I've never had the need to as it's always performed well for me.

I have never been flashed in the almost 3 yrs since I retrofitted it.

Yes, it does drop when it sees street lights, or u drop below 40 km/h.

Very nice, the light output is fantastic on full beam.

One of the easiest coding jobs you can do, check the tried and tested superb adaptions thread, its a sticky in the S3 forum.
