Hello guys.

Can anyone tell me what year the DPF's were introduced on the Skoda Fabia TDi.. Or what was the last year before they fitted them? Ta in advance...

If it is the 1.6 TDI then i guess when they were fitted to MK2's they had a DPF as after 2009.

 

As to other engines like the 1.2 TDI i suspect they had a DPF as they were part of the Defeat Device Scandal.

 

No idea if there were any TDI's that were fitted to the first Mk2's without a DPF. 

 But someone will be along that knows about 1.9 TDI's & 1.4 TDI's.

I don't believe any VAG group diesel vehicles from 2009 onwards didn't have a DPF fitted as standard because euro 5 compliance was mandatory across the range.

Plenty threads ask the same question over the years.

I thought that possibly since the Mk2 was launched pre Sept 2009 there might have been some diesels without a PDF.

1.4 TDI Greenline is the only 1.4 TDI fitted with a DPF.

I've been looking at 2009 Skoda Fabia Est 1.4 TDi. My last skoda Fabia Est was a 2008 1.4 TDi which did not have a DPF fitted.

I'm not 100% sure of the following, but the parts catalogue suggests:

If it's a BMS engine code it'll have one as shown here exhaust pipe with catalyst and particulate filter... - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2009 year] (7zap.com)

If it's BNM or BNV it won't, as (not) shown here exhaust pipe with catalyst - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2009 year] (7zap.com)

The 1.6 tdi was intrduced in 2010 and all 1.6 tdi Fabia`s have a DPF. 

The 1.9tdi & sdi Fabia was made from 2001 to 2010 and no Fabia 1.9tdi OR 1.9sdi have a dpf.

So the youngest Fabia diesel without a DPF is a 2010 Fabia 1.9tdi.

There none on autotrader at the moment but there are four 2009`s.

BLS code 1.9 did have DPF according to my first link above?

This is nuts, if you don't want DPF problems don't buy a diseasal as a shopping cart or for the rush hour city centre commute, they need a decent run to keep them clear and the pennies you pinch on fuel costs are pounds wasted on getting the DPF cleaned out.

 

Buy a petrol car instead, for low mileage the TCO is far less.

I had a 2008 Fabia 1.4 TDI without one issue in the time I had it. Not nuts mate just asking for a bit of advice.

@Adzalot Are you looking at buying a car and concerned over problems / issues with a DPF?

Does the car drive OK, and how many miles has it done & how does the past MOT,s and advisories look if there are any?

 A 1.4TDI Greenline model, which is an "economy" version with the model 2 trim, higher gearing and some other mods such as aerodynamic body mods, does have a DPF, the trim models 1, 2 and 3 do not.
