Original brake pads, VRS 245 2017.

Featured Replies

Hi,

The original brake pads bear both TRW's and Jurid's brand name.

Jurid appear to be part of DRiV Automotive Inc, whereas TRW are part of ZF TRW Automotive Holdings Group.

Jurid and TRW sell pads/ rotors independently, after-market, so why would they collaborate for OE?

I'm trying to establish ta suitable brand to replace the OE with, as the car is approaching 4 years of age. I've read many posts by people asking the same questions about quality/ reliability/ cost, which all appear to conclude with subjective conclusions i.e. predicated on a personal belief that one is better than the other.

It doesn't take long to discover that many of these so-called competitors, are actually owned by the same parent company. Some of their websites even use the same web template, but with different colours and logos!

I used www.buycarparts.co.uk a lot in the past. Mostly good experiences. There is very little information on their website regarding customs duties and additional charges. Following Brexit, can anyone confirm if the couriers are charging duties before they deliver the goods?

Pad is Jurid.

Braking system is TRW.

That'w why you have both brand logos on the pads.

You can go to OEM, they work and feel great, or go to Ferodo DS2500 for slightly more racing feel, if you need it, but my assumption is they will bite a bit less when cold. I had months invested for aftermarket, and at the end went to the dealers for a replacement.

Rear ones are Ferodo (also for TRW system).

I recently replaced all four corners with the OE equivalent Brembo discs and pads that Eurocarparts stock, when they were running 50% discount of course. Used their fitting service for the first time too which was straight forward.

Total for parts and fitting was less than half what Skoda main dealer wanted. 300 miles in and no complaints, performance as expected and not dramatic either way.

I went with Brembo purely on price point and not the brand name. With previous cars can't say I've ever noticed much difference between OE equivalents from various brands so I would have gone for Pagid, Ate etc. if cheaper.

For me ATE road pads and ATE or Brembo disks

As above OE pads were Jurid and caliper was TRW, which is why fitment is printed on the pad. Earlier VWs with the same brakes had ATE calipers with a different fitment so probably helps save some idiot trying to hammer the wrong pads in.

Thanks for your responses. If I understand correctly then, buying replacement parts, directly from Skoda would yield Jurid pads and a TRW rotors?
