Front Assist Not Available

Featured Replies

I was driving in rain a couple of days ago and the "Front Assist Not Available" warning flashed up on the dashboard. I thought it might be to do with the weather, but 2 dry days later and it is still there. I have had a search and the general issue seems to be that a recalibration of the sensor is required (which sounds expensive and not available at all dealers). It's a face lift Octavia so i believe that the sensor is  covered by the grill. I have cleaned the grill in front of the sensor, in case there was some dirt blocking it, but still the error exists. Is there anything else I can try, or will it have to go to the dealers? Thanks!

Best way to figure out would be do a full scan first!

Just an update to this. The error stayed on for 2 weeks or so until yesterday, when it resolved itself for apparently no reason. This was after some heavy rain/wind so possibly something was blocking the radar and has now been washed/blown off. Anyway, it seems to be working again ...... for now!

This happened to me last Wednesday. Got in the car, started it up and it flagged up "Front Assist Not Available". Had this happen once before and found leaves stuck across the sensor so checked that and was all ok. It never came on again on Wednesday so thought it was just a one off glitch. Haven't used the car again until this morning and the battery was so dead it wouldn't spin the starter so put my jump start pack on and it started straightaway so I'm of the opinion that the battery is on the way out and the front assist not available was just the start of it. Once it started and I gave it a good run it was starting ok every time and when I got back I put the charger on to boost it up but have decided to bite the bullet and I've ordered a new Varta agm battery and get it fitted before any other problems throw up. After searching around I managed to get the Varta for £108 delivered from Battery Megastore which seems a good price. Should have that on Tuesday so I'll fit that and hopefully all will be ok.
