I am looking at getting a Skoda RCD 510 headunit.

 

The thing is the seller says its  not compatible for pre 2008 Skoda's.

 

Why?

 

The only thing the seller says it will drain the battery and the wiring is different.

 

I have never heard of this before... I thought skoda to skoda will be ok? No matter what year etc, wiring not a problem... but the drainage, that's new to me.

 

Is there a way around this please? 

 

I am trying to keep it standard as possible but with subtle upgrades etc

The Columbus radio uses CAN 2.0, the preFL Roomster and FII use CAN 1.6. You can use a Canbus adapter apparently.
