Brakes don't work

Featured Replies

Aight gents here's the deal, brakes of my Škoda 120GLS don't want to work.

The master cylinder does no pressure or move fluid at all, I got a new master cylinder and still nothing is happening.

I took the whole servo assembly out and checked if the servo rod even moves, it does.

The problem I think here being that for some reason the servo rod comes out too much and presses down on the master cylinder pistons, I tried adjusting the servo control rod as far down as possible, but it still feels like it pushes the piston in the master cylinder when rest, thus not allowing them to move enough stuff around, or do anything for that matter.

On my desk it feels like the lower master cylinder piston does some pressure when the servo pushes the piston upwards, but the upper one does absolutely nothing.

Is there some other way to adjust the servo rod even lower short of attacking it with an angle grinder?

New servos are non-existent, would a skoda favorit servo fit, they're like 30 bucks for some chinese junk ones, would be better than my 40 year old current one that is most probably completely busted.

Aight, I just chucked 2 nuts under the brake master cylinder and screwed the rod as low as it goes, now it works.

But of course I twisted the threading in the front brake caliber piston housing, where to cop either a new piston housing or a completely new caliper?

How did you manage that. Get a tap and repair them

I am not a very intelligent person.

The previous valve snapped, drilled it out and managed to preserve the opd threads, chased them out but they didn't really hold and offed themselves when tightening the new valve.

I bought some thingy, like a bolt that goes through and you tighten a new bleed valve to that as the threads are completely shot in my cylinder.

Other option would be a ball bearing and drill out the hole for a bigger bolt

Ah do u used an insert that's fine. It will work OK as long as it seals good.

Update to this one, favorit servo wouldn't fit for the 120, found an intact servo from a junker car.

I guess for replacement one could use those American 7" universal servos with a threaded rod for a pedal shaft and just cut the shaft and fit the pedal loop with a thread adaptor.

Also apparently a lot of the aftermarket brake master cylinders aren't all that good for the Skodas, their piston travel is too long when compared to the originals it seems.
