Fabia RS Broken Airfilter Housing lid lug

Featured Replies

Morning all, I've managed to break 1 of the 2 lugs on the airfilter housing lid on my 2006 Rs. These things cost a small fortune to buy new! Does anyone know if the polo Airbox is compatible,  there are plenty on ebay although the lid does look slightly different.

Vrs part no 6Q0 129 607 AJ

POLO part no 6Q0 129 607 AR

Thanks,  Chris

The vRS uses a large diameter air flow meter to other Fabia models, even the other 1.9 Tdi PD models so i suspect the Polo will be the same. The Polo GT TDI shares the same 130bhp engine so i'd "assume" that if the lid is from a GT 130 model it should fit.

Next best thing would be a good used air box of which there are plenty for sale on the usual places.

You could perhaps give a scrapyard a ring to see if they're breaking a Fab vRS. :)

I tried to get a lid for my one a few months ago, all the places I tried didn't have one or didn't to post it up to me.

I did end up getting one from TPS. Comes as the whole airbox with a filter already in place. Saved me a lot of time and hassle.

The "bogan" or "shade tree mechanic" or "bodger" variant is to use zip ties or strapping around the entire air box including lid. To force the whole thing shut.

I must have had mine replaced at some point because I had the same problem. I don't now. So at some service or other it was replaced.
