Octavia Estate VRS TDI 4x4 DSG vibration when accelerating.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a 2017 Scoda Octavia Estate VRS TDi 4x4 DSG with 33K miles.  Recently the whole car has started to vibrate lots when accelerating between 35 - 55.  I have had the wheels balanced and the tracking done but it has made no difference.  The vibration does not seem to alter when I change revs.  The severity of the vibration has gotten worse over the last 5K miles.   Has anyone had similar problems? or can anyone suggest where I should start looking?

Best regards

Mark

Welcome.

Has the Haldex been serviced properly with the pump / filter cleaned, due at 3 years and maybe even before 30,000 miles, certainly before 4.

The Prop Shaft coupling will need inspected as well.

Thanks for the quick reply,

It came with FSH but I can't see if the Haldex pump has been serviced.  I will do that.

Is the prop shaft coupling a DIY job?

It’ll be prop shaft coupling I’d have thought. They expand I believe and go dry. My bro in-laws yeti used to do it at about 65

@pricey42uk   Does the FSH show anything done other than Oil & Filter and a pollen filter change?

If you use a Skoda Main Dealership to do the Haldex Service and they do it for the price you need to ask if they are going to do more than v

just change the oil.

If they say that is all that is required and they check with the Master Tech then i would not let them near the car.

Propt-shaft has thrown a balancing weight or propt bearing is failing.  This happened on my husbands Octavia SE 4x4 and its ruddy annoying, although not the end of the world.  Do you have any kind of warranty associated with the car?  If so, get it claimed.... otherwise it will probably cost about 200-300UKP for it to be fixed.

Thanks for all your replies.  I have just called Skoda this morning and they have told me there are two propshaft coupling joints.  The rear on is £400 ish and the front one is £200 ish.  Any idea which one normally goes?

When I have looked on GSF they only list one for around £200.

The rear can be a rusty mess. So look. There is a thread in the General maintenance thread.  Murphy,s law is that it will be the more expensive part.  But fingers crossed it is not.   Servicing and maintenance and visual inspections are the name of the game.  Pre and post winter.

EDIT,

A bit older than a 2017, but same thing.
