Skoda Felicia driver's side window problem

Featured Replies

Few days back i decide to go to the car wash, i rolled down the window when i started and i heard a noise like had something jammed a little bit, i thought that due to the dust this happened but when the windows rolled completely down refused to come up.

I lift it just for photo purposes, can not lift it manually more because it's jammed at this point, if i left it drops slowly to the bottom, the switch works for the down motion but not for the upper.

I went to the repair shop, i expected to tell me that the lifting jack has a problem or the plastic square ''driver'' https://cdn.autodoc.de/thumb?id=7277819&m=0&n=0&lng=gr&ccf=94077812  broke but the problem was on the wire rope

As you can see in the photo as the window rolled down he ''caught" it and everything stopped.

They told me that the whole old window jack must be replaced.

Total cost 140 euro.

Window jacks for Felicia/Favorit are hard to find. Good work. 👍

Sport interior elements are looking cool.

The whole mechanism had shown some signs of ''suffering" the last months and when it stuck i was expecting for some parts to be replaced but didn't happened.

A local seller had the whole kit and i was lucky that it didn't happened when i was in travel otherwise i would have a huge problem.

Well they sell repair kits,

but can you please share your part numbers for future reference

Repair kits are for some brands and few models only.

For Skoda Felicia the codes are:

6U0837461: drivers side, Electric Life ZR SK14 L

6U0837462: passengers side, Electric Life ZR SK14 R

Other brands are LIFT-TEK, MIRAGLIO, PMM, WAI global etc.

I have use in the past 2 Electric Life window jacks so when the problem occured was the first choice.

Ready to buy, brought by courier to the repair shop after few hours, installed by the electrician, nice price.

I left my Trusty at 9:00 and took it ready at 13:00 to go to work.

Just FYI, these are not original mechanisms - Felicia has push/pull system in plastic Bowden tube, with motors with integrated convenience unit from VW T4 - this mechanism has its own issues, as plastic becomes harder over time, the tube often cracks near motor and window jams. There are repair kits for that too, sold by SP-EL

FYI in that case means: pay parking for many days, remove the door panel, make a diagnosis of what parts you need. Buying from SP-EL means delay on email, money send via bank transfer (more delay plus fees), waiting for shipping from CZ, waiting for the parcel to artive, staying in the line in the Post Office, intalling. This my friend means risk, at least 2 weeks delay, high cost.

that yes thats the issue

since original parts are not available anymore, it's either that, some DIY repair, conversion to manual lifters or complete rewiring - original wiring is not compatible with aftermarket lifters..

I'm no fan of SP-EL either, but that repair kit is easiest way to get working lifters (assuming they are done properly without QC issues)

Felly uses 6 pin reversing polarity switches plus 2 for lighting

You are refering to the 4 switches lower on the central console?

I have 4 because all my windows are electrical, the front (very slow by the way) here from the ''factory'' so i asked for my electrician and transfer the 2 front mechanisms to the rear and i installed 2 new on the front.

Those on the front were from Electric Life and one still works after 20 years (the other as you know is changed).

Rear electric windows got damn luxuries mine are fast since the rewiring with 1.5mm2 wire.

I just grease them every so often

I grease their rails few yeasr back when i opened the cover to install insulation

They are slow but i rarely roll them dowh.

The mess is on the switches, yes you can find as the originals or other shape that fit (same pin) but the colour is different !

For example you may buy 2 for the front windows and the led colour could be red or white or orange and the other 2 maybe are green.

The is no indication of what colour is the light so if one is broke for example don't bait that the new will be the same colour, talking by bad experience. :giggle:

Factory fitted uses 5 pin switches, 2 for lighting (green) 1 output (+-), 2 for input voltage - they are just signal switches for the control unit

You can find same form factor from Audi 80/100, which also has 5 pins, but reversing polarity output which runs motors directly - these have ofcourse red backlight - they are copied by various manufacturers

Rear electric windows were never fitted from factory, but I've seen some, often export to South Europe - these had different switches for pre-facelift console. I've also seen DIY conversion using front motors (their electronic units have input for secondary switch) and rear lifter mechanisms - I made my attempt, too, but I never finished them...

Here is a characteristic example:

are like mine (stock) but nowhere says about the colour of the led.

Few years back i bought 4 of them and i thought that they were green colour, one click before the purchase i asked the seller to test them and i saw that the led was red.

Of course i didn't bought them otherwise would look very funny among the other switches.

Mine uses 6pin switches. I'm sure cause I also bought 5pin but they didn't fit and searched my whole city to find 6pin ones

I thought that you have Sportline edition with factory electronic windows? Mine look like this and I disassembled both these and Audi switches to check internal connections

Well I do have the sport line with factory fitted front windows. But maybe over the years they've been altered my switches directly drive the motors that's why when I changed to 1.5mm2 wire the thing became 2times faster

@Papez : i havent see switches like yours, even the panel is different.

@Thefeliciahacker : which cable? The original cross section was smaller.
