How to update software?

Featured Replies

Hello,

just for my information. Is possible to download and update software/firmware via VCDS? Or it's possible in car service only?

I'd assume that you need to be able to access a secure Skoda server to download the software, and doesn't VCDS just let you edit the software in the car already? Something like ERWIN will give you access to the Skoda Service records, so could they also access the system software files?

I'm also assuming that your car doesn't get online updates, or if it does that they don't include updates to the system software.

No, VCDS allows you to change the settings of the software but it does not allow you to edit the actual software or to download new software.

It's a diagnostic tool not a reprogramming/flashing tool.

Thanks for the clarification.
