EBay damaged repairable Fabia

Featured Replies

Seems quite a cheap starting price, don't know the extent of the damage other than what it claims in the advert so it'd be best to check it out but it seems like it could be a steal if you could get it for

With a frontal impact like that, I wonder if the air bags deployed? If they have it could push the price to repair up....

Chris

Worth asking that question if you were interested in purchasing it ;)

It looks just like my 05 did after I had finished with it, that was written off as it would have cost more than 6k to repair! Both air bags had gone off and a new dash was over 2k according to body shop I was just glad not to get the car back.

You would need a lot of second hand parts to make it a worthwhile fix.

This would probably make quite a good car to buy if you wanted one to fix up.

Most of the damaged components seem to have been stripped off so it would be relatively easy to see exactly what needs fixing and price it up accordingly.

the advert states:

light frontal damage panels only starts and drives dent on back wing 150BHP rocket easy diy repair!

so i guess that answers the airbag question ;)

150bhp made me question the rest of the ad ;) Call me cynical :D

From previous threads this seller seems to have a somewhat tarnished reputation.

I suppose,you pay your money...................

This has been on ebay several times already, its my friendly scrapyard NOT.

DOUGLAS VALLEY BREAKERS, WIGAN! Again! You suck! :finger: I wouldn't trust them now, and if I don't get what I paid for soon, I'll be taking further action against that company! :grumpy:

If anyone's local I wouldn't mind them popping in and asking for my rear mats.:D

Whats there problem? Not willing to post them? Live local-ish if you want me to call in?

They just seem to be inept. Won't respond to my emails. Last time I got through to them the mats were being cleaned. Still not got them yet though.

That's a rather large dent in the rear panel! The boot looks damaged on the left hand side too.

Not sure it's a DIY repair at all!! It's beyond economical repair!

Some interesting options on this particular VRS::rofl:

Air Conditioning, Alarm, Alloy Wheels, AM/FM Stereo, Cassette Player, Catalytic Converter, CD Player, Central Locking, Climate Control, Cruise Control, Electric Seats, Electric Windows, Power-assisted Steering (PAS), Premium Sound System, Rear Spoiler, Sunroof, Tilt Steering Wheel

There isn't even a sunroof on the car! Not sure where 150BHP came from, I must be missing 20 on mine then!

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. :thumbdwn:

Looks like a car that someone had started to repair & then found more things wrong when they started stripping it.

Beyond economical repair doesn't mean you cannot do it yourself.

You for one will not charge yourself

You can sear damage to rear passenger side if you click picture and looks like boot too but that could be a reflection.

As a general rule insurance companies don't write a car that is that new off unless they have to. If market price is 8k then it is unlikely you can repair the car for less than 5k.

Also what catagory was the write off A,B,C or D? Some will requires tests before it hits the road again.

Some people have had some bad experiences from this breaker's in Wigan. Its locally known as 'The OK Corral' due to the number of cowboys working there!!!

depending on what catagory write off it was ,i wouldn't have thought SKODA would give you the remainder of the manufacturers warranty either , so if something other than the bodywork repair went faulty you would be f##ked

looking at the pictures ,its gonna need these parts , bonnet, front bumper , grill , trims for bumper, number plate ,tailgate ,n/s/r wing ,n/s/f chassis leg , possibly a wing or 2 ,radiator, aircon rad +probably various pipes etc, battery+tray , 2 headlamps ,2 fog lamps, possible looms/wiring repairs ,slam panel , front panel , impact bar , plus if all those removed parts are missing you're going to have to find all the screws and clips that were on the removed parts ETC,ETC, plus engine/gearbox removal for chassis leg fitment/repair ,plus full respray to get all the panels the same colour , certainly doesn't sound like an easy D.I.Y. repair to me

Sounds like another Douglas Valley classic to me.

I'd give them £1000 scrap value, and no more. There's just too much to repair....

You could chuck in that FMIC/turbo @ the same time.

Atleast it would make working on the engine easier

Just as a matter of interest, i'll find out what category write off it is on Monday and let you know.

Jon.

It was a category C.

Not worth it basically then.

On top of the list you would need to get an inspection done too and the resale value would be much below the average due to the write off on its history.
